Pashmak
Privacy Policy
Last updated September 26, 2026The short version: Pashmak has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your voice and messages are processed to teach you Persian and are not stored by us. We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app.
What we process
- Voice (live calls and pronunciation practice). Audio is streamed to our speech provider, OpenAI, to power the conversation, transcription and pronunciation feedback. We do not record or store your audio.
- Text you type in chat is sent to OpenAI to generate replies and corrections. We do not store your conversations on our servers. Your word list and lesson progress stay on your device.
- Anonymous usage statistics. A random install ID (not linked to your identity) and events such as “started a call” or “finished a lesson” help us understand what works. We never log what you say or type. Kept for 90 days.
- Daily usage counters (e.g. stories used today) keyed by the same anonymous install ID, deleted automatically after 3 days.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe, your device sends an Apple-signed receipt so we can unlock Pashmak Pro. We don't receive your name, email or payment details: Apple handles payment.
Service providers
OpenAI (speech, text and transcription). Under OpenAI's API terms, API data is not used to train their models and may be retained up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. Amazon Web Services hosts our servers. Apple processes purchases.
Notifications and microphone
Microphone access is used only while you talk to Pashmak or practice pronunciation. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device, and you can turn them off at any time.
Children
Pashmak is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
You can delete all local data by deleting the app. To ask about data associated with your install ID, contact us.

We'll update this page if our practices change and revise the date above.
